When conceiving the vision for his company, Grand Street Development, Dean Marchi was inspired by the historic architecture that makes New York City unique. In particular there is a fascination with the details featured on the warehouse and cast-iron buildings of old New York.
These buildings were erected in the 1800's as celebrations of commerce and artfully demonstrate the pride of an era and industry. Today, there is a resurgence of interest in these buildings for use as family residences. However, converting them into comfortable and modern living spaces has challenges.
